bremgarten bei bern / SWITZERLAND

This project in Bremgarten was a joyful collaboration with a young professional couple and their child, who had just moved into a newly built apartment. Their vision was clear: they wanted a serene, familiar, and happy home – a place where calm meets personality, and design is both present and effortless.

Because the color of the kitchen and floor tiles had already been determined by the developer, the space initially felt colder and more industrial than desired. Mariano's focus became finding the right balance – bringing softness and a sense of home through the use of warm wood tones, soft textiles, and a refined, cool-toned beige and brown color palette that gently connects with the existing floor tiles.

The entrance was kept clean and functional. A sleek black console and mirror offer practicality, while a deep, textured rug adds warmth underfoot. This darker, more minimal setup creates a beautiful contrast to the built-in wooden wardrobes that offer generous storage and introduce natural warmth right from the threshold.

A niche originally designed to be a desk was rethought as a reading corner. Since the couple already had a home office, a removable built-in bookshelf was created – offering space for their growing book collection, while keeping the option of a future desk open. The black USM Haller sideboard the couple already owned was placed under the wooden shelf, blending in seamlessly with the materials and color scheme.

The living room opens directly from the entrance and is bathed in natural light thanks to generous windows that lead to the garden. Here, a large rug extends beyond the sofa wall, visually expanding the space and guiding the eye toward a colorful commissioned artwork – a personal piece that anchors the room and adds character. The modular layout features a corner sofa, a classic lounge chair and two additional armchairs – ideal for entertaining without overcrowding. A white USM Haller sideboard adds a subtle glow and keeps the space open and airy.

A view toward the entrance and the newly created reading nook reveals how the couple’s vibrant art collection effortlessly complements the soft, natural tones of the space – adding both joy and a sense of curated elegance.

In the bedroom, the atmosphere remains calm and cohesive. Deep blue tones from the bedspread and the artwork above the headboard add depth and serenity, while grey nightstands and a natural sisal rug provide balance and texture. An antique wooden bench at the foot of the bed brings a touch of softness and intrigue.

In the corner, a Le Corbusier LC7 chair sits beneath a favorite artwork from the clients’ personal collection – a quiet statement of their passion for timeless design.

This home is the result of a dialogue – between existing elements and new ideas, between restraint and warmth, between functionality and emotion. It reflects the spirit of its inhabitants: design-savvy, thoughtful, and full of joy.
