HOLLIGEN, BERN / SWITZERLAND
When Mariano Sulmoni first saw this small rental apartment in the Bernese Neighborhood of Holligen, he was immediately attracted to the light and the lovely rooms. After living in an impersonal new constructed condo, Mariano wanted his design for the new space to fully embrace the intimacy of the small rooms but without abandoning his desire for a living room with enough seating to receive guests.
In order to keep the interior light, Mariano chose white and light colored furniture, a choice he believes fosters a certain degree of serenity. Not forgetting his love for movies and art, he mastered the decoration including a pop of color through books, wall art and curated objects.
He took a slightly different palette in the bedroom with more natural colors and materials. Mariano designed the sleek and minimalist headboard made of brown linen. His love for natural materials, vintage finds are well represented in his first interior design project.
